1
We turn innovation into impact
We connect community-led marine habitat restoration programmes with cutting-edge scientific research and innovation to drive both social and environmental impact.
2
We foster local leadership
We foster community-led marine habitat restoration in order to champion inclusivity and empower local communities as leaders of change.
3
We develop community capacity
We understand that community-led marine habitat restoration builds long-term regional capacity, developing social and environmental resilience.

The Ocean Gardeners was born from the European Seagrass Restoration Alliance (2024-2025 annual report here). In 2026 the Association changed its name to The Ocean Gardeners to focus efforts on building public involvement and civic engagement in marine restoration programmes.
